Andrew Toy began playing the drums at age 9 and has applied his skills to a wide range of musical situations. Andrew began his professional career as a cruise ship drummer and traveled the world while performing nightly on stage. Since then he has toured the country with rock, funk, Americana, and Celtic groups and has become an in-demand session musician in the DC area. In 2017, Andrew began creating his own music and released his debut album Guardrails in 2021.
As an educator, Andrew emphasizes the role of music as a form of expression and its parallel to verbal language. He encourages students to enjoy the process of making music and to view mechanics as a means to a creative end.
Andrew currently teaches Monday (virtual only), Tuesday through Thursday (virtual and in-person), and is available to teach the following alongside snare drum and drum set:
