Antonio Peluso

Antonio Peluso is a well-rounded drummer and percussionist born and bred in the Bay Area, California. In fall of 2017, Antonio moved to the DMV area where he teaches drums to students of all ages and freelances as a drummer/percussionist for all types of performances. In his spare time, he regularly performs with local indie-pop band Frass Green.

Antonio’s early years of playing were in drumlines, marching bands, jazz bands, and big bands. In California, he trained as a classical percussionist, studying music theory, musicianship, ethnomusicology, classical performance, and audio engineering before shifting his focus to jazz. He continued on to study jazz on the drums and vibraphone as well as jazz composition and theory under saxophonist Bennett Friedman at the Santa Rosa Junior College. During that time, he performed with the College’s jazz combo ensembles and the college’s award winning big band before moving to the University of California, Santa Cruz. In Santa Cruz, he continued to study and perform jazz and in small ensembles under Paul Contos, Stan Poplin, and Karlton Hester. During his time at UCSC, he also studied drum set under George Marsh in the Northern Bay Area, and under Ken Dalluge in Santa Cruz, CA.

Antonio taught beginning and intermediate level students as a private instructor as well as group lessons at Art & Soul Music Studios in California before moving to the DMV. From small jazz ensembles, garage-rock bands, and punk bands to symphonic bands and orchestras, his experience with diverse styles and musical groups has served Antonio in becoming a well-rounded musician.

From loud, energetic rock music to lulling Brazilian bossa nova, Antonio's love for music and the drums stretches far and wide.
