Isabelle De Leon started music at the age of 4 with Classical piano lessons, and drumming at the age of 7 after hearing someone say "girls don't play the drums," and has worked to defy that stereotype ever since. She's played drums for over 18 years, holds a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance from University of Maryland, and has been teaching private lessons, drum clinics, and music camps for over 10 years. With her direct teaching style, she tells her students exactly what they need to do to achieve their goals, in a step-by-step, methodical way, and works on instilling a strong understanding of rhythmic concepts and timing.
She was an Artist-in-Residence at Strathmore Performing Arts in their 2012-2013 season, and is still one of their most employed educators. Currently she drums and writes for on-the-rise Indie Electronic trio, Prinze George, neo-soulstress Edy Blu, synth-pop duo Paperwhite, and freelances with many local artists of various genres and styles including jazz, latin, pop, rock, funk, and many more!
Isabelle currently teaches on Sundays, Mondays, and Thursdays.
