Jared is a passionate creative and teacher, eager to share his knowledge and experience with his students, teaching drums, guitar, and songwriting at 7DC on Friday afternoons, Sundays, and Mondays.
Jared has been playing the drums for 20+ years, starting on Djembe, studying under Kofi Dennis. From his background in Ghanaian hand drumming, Jared began to appreciate the storytelling aspect of music from an early age. He continues to tell stories with his 10+ years of songwriting experience and multi-instrumentalism, fronting the DC-based indie-rock project Scenic Overlook.
Jared has played drums for artists and groups of many styles, finding his groove (quite literally) in rock and pop/hip-hop drums for artists like Sec. and Nick Dache (both amazing local artists, check them out!). Jared’s other active projects include Terrain, Joey Howard, NOIZ, Caity Rose and session work for various studios in the DMV. Having been involved in multiple facets of live performance, Jared has worked in live concert production, composing music and creating visuals for live theater, and working as a lighting designer and technician at numerous concert venues and festivals. He has worked with various artists as a songwriter in studios around the country, and as an album consultant overseeing and collaborating on projects in many different genres.
