Rhythm Rookies is a high-energy introduction to the world of percussion designed for our youngest drummers (ages 4-8). In this playful group-based class, students will explore the joy of rhythm, coordination, and teamwork through hands-on percussion activities - turning the energy of hand drumming into a fun and collaborative ensemble experience!

Students Will Learn:
- Hand & Stick Basics: Students learn the essential mechanics of both hand drumming and traditional stick technique - exploring a wide palette of sounds.
- Steady Beats: We will focus on the fundamentals - keeping a steady tempo, counting simple patterns, and listening to the group.
- Ensemble Building: Your child will learn how to play with others, building a cohesive drum group that creates music together.
- Confidence Through Rhythm: Every class is designed to energize and boost confidence through call-and-response games and fun rhythm challenges.
Note: This class is for students who are potty-trained, are able to maintain a basic steady beat, and can remain generally attentive for an hour.

Meet Your InstructorRobert Battle is a DC-based musician, educator, and community builder. As Manager of Music & Performing Arts for DC Public Schools and host of The Pocket Open Mic, he brings deep experience in teaching, performing, and curating spaces where people can grow through music.
