Miriam is a multi-instrumentalist who has been teaching Bass, Guitar, and Drums for over 5 years, and has been writing and performing original music in the DC area and beyond for over 10 years. You can catch her performing around town with her current projects: Pretty Bitter and Ekko Astral.
When she got her first guitar at the age of 10, her family couldn’t afford consistent lessons, so she would sit by the radio and learn songs she liked by The Beatles, Pink Floyd, and Taylor Swift by ear. In high school, she was able to join the Jazz Ensemble, where she reinforced her own ear training with proper technique and theory. It was then, under the tutelage of Charles Ostle, that she started exploring (and quickly falling in love with) the world of rhythm by learning how to play Bass and Drums. A year later, she went on to form a garage band with her friends, where she discovered how to blend the education she got from Jazz with the passion she had always had for Rock and Pop, and she hasn’t stopped since.
Miriam teaches on Monday and Wednesday. Her specialties include Improvisation, Rhythm, and Songwriting.
