Voice Foundations is a supportive, skill-building course focused on breath support, pitch accuracy, rhythmic phrasing, and discovering your authentic vocal sound. This class is designed for singers who want to build confidence and control from the ground up. Over the 8-week course, we’ll dive into how your voice works, help you strengthen your technique, and encourage you to express your unique musical identity. By the end, you’ll have a solid vocal foundation and the confidence to sing with intention!

• Master the Mechanics: Learn the parts of the voice (head, chest, and mix) and how to use breath-to-sound production for better resonance.
  
  
• Find Your Groove: Develop rhythmic clarity and phrasing skills that make your singing feel professional and "in The Pocket."
  
  
• Building Your Lineage: We don’t just sing; we explore your "Musical Influence Family Tree" to help you understand your unique sound.

​This course includes two dedicated "Song Workshop Days" where you’ll get supportive, constructive feedback on a song of your choice. The course then culminates in a mini-showcase on the last day of class to celebrate everything you’ve learned!

Meet Your Instructor

Robert Battle is a DC-based musician, educator, and community builder. As Manager of Music & Performing Arts for DC Public Schools and host of The Pocket Open Mic, he brings deep experience in teaching, performing, and curating spaces where people can grow through music.

At 7DrumCity, Robert leads group classes that blend rhythm, creativity, and collaboration, helping students build confidence while having fun.
