Wayne Smith discovered his passion for drumming in his teens, beginning in high school concert and jazz bands. He minored in music theory and performance and earned a B.A. in Psychology, magna cum laude, from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC).
Wayne has worked as a studio drummer with DCide Records in Washington, DC, contributing to studio recordings, major-label showcases, and live performances. He currently works as a cognitive psychologist specializing in neurodivergent brain training for individuals with ADHD and ASD, and brings this expertise to his teaching with a focus on assessment, cognitive multitasking, and performance development. Outside the classroom, Wayne enjoys jamming with fellow musicians, busking, and karaoke.
