Musicians -- meet other hobbyists & play a show
Registration for the
Summer Hits Flashband Showcase
at Pearl Street Warehouse is FULL!
Ah, summertime. Warm sun, a cool drink, and the feeling of grass under your bare feet. And of course, no summer would be complete without the proper poolside playlist. What’s on yours? Whether it’s Ella Fitzgerald reminding you “the living’s easy,” Bob Marley transporting you to the Caribbean, or Weezer putting you on that “Island in the Sun,” the summer jam is an absolute essential part of the season.
In honor of this glorious time of year, this Flashband is “SUMMER HITS.” Any song in the broader theme of summer is on the table. Sun, sand, beaches, surfing, school’s out for summer. Bust out your favorite summer jams and perform them for what promises to be another big Flashband crowd!
We’re very excited to have this show back at Pearl Street Warehouse—an ideal summer venue that opens up its facade in the summer so that fans can even enjoy the music and drinks from outside! This promises to be a blowout of a summer party!
Q: So can my band dress up in hula skirts and do strictly Hawaiian ukulele versions of everything?
A: Yes, that would be rad. You should do that.
Q: Or how about this: We do a whole surf rock set, culminating with our drummer doing an insane beat-for-beat recreation of the drum solo from "Wipeout!"
A: Oh whoa, that's a good idea.
Q: Oh! What about an entire Donna Summer disco set?
A: Are they summer-themed Donna Summer songs?
Q: I mean, yeah duh, it's right there in the name. They're all summer-themed cuz she's Donna freakin' Summer.
A: Meh. I'm gonna split hairs and say no here, champ. But good try. Stay with summer, sun, sand, ocean, etc.
Q: Do songs that came out in the summer count as summer songs?
A: No, that's not the idea. For real, this is a common mix-up. It's summer-themed music. Not "famous songs that were released in the summer."
Q: Can my band play a summer-themed song I/we wrote?
A: Absolutely! Creativity and originals always encouraged.
Q: Can I register even if I won't be at the Meet & Greet Jam?
A: No. If you won't be able to make it to the jam, please refrain from registering until post-jam when your registration will automatically route you onto the waitlist.
If you do register and can't attend the Meet & Greet Jam, you'll be manually bumped to the waitlist to make room for someone who can. Post-jam when the bands are formed, bands will then have the option to pull you off the waitlist to join them as an additional member. If no band adds you, you'll get a refund. Please also scroll up and read the cancellation policy.
Q: Is the show all ages?
A: Not this one. Pearl Street Warehouse is 21+ only.
Q: Why the rules? Wouldn't it be better just to let us play whatever we want?
A: Ever been to a theme party, and some people just showed up in plain clothes? What a bummer! Themes fuel creativity and are a big part of what make Flashband a good time for the participants and exciting and marketable to audiences. Give it a shot and be creative, and we know you'll dig working within the theme.
Q: What's Flashband and how does it work?
A: Flashband connects musicians to form a one-time band and play a showcase of short high-energy sets one month later.
Here's how it works: You'll form a one-time band at a meet & greet jam, rehearse with your band, then play the show! Typically 40-45 hobbyist musicians participate, and have 4 weeks to prepare a 15-minute set for a Saturday night show.
